A three-year-old boy has been taken to hospital in a stable condition after he was injured when trapped in an automatic driveway gate at Quakers Hill this morning.

The boy was trapped for about 20 minutes in the sliding electric driveway gate at the front of a home.

CareFlight’s rapid response rescue helicopter was tasked to the scene at 11.45am, landing in a nearby park.

Ambulance paramedics and Fire and Rescue crews released the patient from the gate and provided initial care at the scene.

CareFlight’s specialist doctor and critical care paramedic provided further treatment for injuries the patient had sustained to the leg.

Treatment was continued in a road ambulance by CareFlight’s medical team, with the patient taken to The Children’s Hospital at Westmead in a stable condition.
