A man, aged in his 40s, has been crushed under a truck, after the vehicle fell while he was conducting repairs at an industrial site yesterday afternoon in Eastern Creek.

The man, who suffered significant abdominal and pelvic crush injuries, was able to contact a bystander who lifted the truck and called for medical assistance for the man.

The Mounties Care CareFlight Helicopter was tasked by NSW Ambulance shortly before 4.30pm and landed 10 minutes later in a cul-de-sac close to the scene of the incident. NSW Ambulance paramedics were on scene providing initial treatment, assisted by personnel from Fire and Rescue NSW and NSW Police.

CareFlight’s specialist doctor and NSW Ambulance critical care paramedic assessed the man’s condition and worked with the other emergency services on scene to extricate the patient from under the vehicle. CareFlight’s medical team, assisted by NSW Ambulance paramedics, performed a clinical assessment of the man, including an ultrasound, and administered pain relief.

The patient was transported by road with NSW Ambulance under ongoing observation from CareFlight’s medical team. He was taken to Westmead Hospital in a stable condition.
