A man has sustained serious head injuries after he fell five metres from a Clontarf building site’s roof onto concrete.

The man, aged in his 30s, lost consciousness from the impact and was extricated by Fire and Rescue NSW from the construction site.

CareFlight’s Rapid Response Helicopter was tasked by NSW Ambulance shortly before 10:00am and landed 10 minutes later in the grounds of Balgowlah Golf Club where NSW Police escorted the clinical team to the scene of the incident.

NSW Ambulance paramedics were providing initial treatment for the patient and CareFlight’s specialist doctor and NSW Ambulance critical care paramedic performed a clinical assessment on the patient, including an ultrasound. They intubated the patient and placed him in an induced coma to stabilise his condition.

CareFlight’s clinical team provided ongoing treatment for the man as he was transported with NSW Ambulance by road to Royal North Shore Hospital in a critical condition.
