A 49-year-old man working on the roof of a residence in Rydalmere has fallen from a height of ten metres and sustained injuries to his chest, pelvis and legs from the impact.
The tradesman initially fell on the fence separating the two homes and landed on concrete in the neighbouring residence’s side passageway.
CareFlight’s Rapid Response Helicopter was tasked by NSW Ambulance shortly before 12:30pm and landed 15 minutes later in an oval where NSW Police escorted CareFlight’s specialist doctor and NSW Ambulance critical care paramedic to the scene of the incident.
At the scene, NSW Ambulance paramedics were providing treatment for the patient and CareFlight’s clinical team performed an initial assessment before working in tandem with NSW Ambulance to extricate the man. CareFlight’s clinical team provided spinal precautions for the man and performed an ultrasound to examine his injuries.
The clinical team continued providing care as the man was taken by road with NSW Ambulance to Westmead Hospital in a stable condition.
