CareFlight’s rapid response helicopter flew its medical team to Hebersham this afternoon to help a 40-year-old woman who was injured and remained trapped in her car where it had crashed.

The woman was trapped for more than 20 minutes after it was involved in a collision with an ice cream truck on Forrester Road at around 1.30pm.

Fire & Rescue crews were on scene and Ambulance paramedics provided initial care for the woman.

CareFlight specialist doctors and critical care paramedic provided further treatment for chest injuries while she was trapped. Fire crews had to cut the roof from the vehicle before the woman could be freed.

The two CareFlight doctors and critical care paramedic continued to provide treatment as the woman was taken in a road ambulance to Westmead Hospital in a stable condition.
