A 23-year-old male has been taken to hospital in a stable condition after being struck on the head by a falling tree branch in Richmond this morning.

CareFlight’s rapid response rescue helicopter was tasked at 9.40am, landing at a carpark in a nearby soccer field.

The tree lopper was reportedly working at a land clearing when a branch fell from an estimated six metres, hitting him in the head.

CareFlight’s critical care doctor and paramedic made their way through about 300m of vegetation where they treated the patient for mild head injuries.

The patient was then transported out of the area in a ute and taken to the awaiting CareFlight helicopter, where he was flown to Westmead hospital in a stable condition.

Ambulance and Police also attended.
