A 36-year-old man has been airlifted to hospital in a serious but stable condition after falling from the top of a tree-removal truck onto the road in northern Sydney this morning.

The man fell about three metres onto his head from the top of the truck-trailer used with wood-chipping and mulching machinery.

CareFlight’s rapid response rescue helicopter was tasked to Asquith shortly before 11am, landing in an oval near the accident scene on Baldwin Avenue.

The medical team walked the short distance to meet the patient and NSW Ambulance crews on scene.

CareFlight’s specialist doctor and intensive care paramedic treated the man for a head injury and suspected spinal injuries.

He was airlifted to Royal North Shore Hospital, with CareFlight’s doctor admitting the patient for specialist spinal trauma care.
