Flooding of the remote community of Daly River, saw a man was airlifted to Katherine Hospital yesterday afternoon.
Operating the Top End Medical Retrieval Service on behalf of the Northern Territory Government, CareFlight tasked a King Air turbo-prop aircraft to Daly River and flew the 77-year-old man to Tindal in the care of a flight nurse.
Meanwhile, the CareFlight Top End Rescue Helicopter was tasked to the remote community of Woodycupildiya to airlift a seven-year-old boy to Royal Darwin Hospital.
The boy was suffering from high fever and other medical conditions and required urgent specialist treatment. Current wet weather conditions made it impossible for the boy to travel via road ambulance, and due to a flooded airstrip aeroplanes were unable to land in the community.
CareFlight’s Top End Rescue Helicopter crew, including a flight doctor and a flight nurse, airlifted the boy to RDH where he arrived late yesterday afternoon in a stable condition.
