A 26-year-old woman was airlifted after she was injured while walking a popular trail in the Royal National Park this afternoon.
The woman was unable to move due to an ankle injury sustained along the rocky coastal escarpment of the Coast track toward the iconic Figure Eight Pools.
CareFlight’s rapid response rescue helicopter was called to help shortly after 1:30pm, landing in a grass plateau about 50 metres from the scene where ambulance were treating the patient.
Due to the challenging terrain, CareFlight helicopter flew the woman to the beginning point of the windy walking trail at Garawarra Farm car park.
She was then carried to a waiting road ambulance to be transported to Sutherland Hospital in a stable condition.
