A woman remains in hospital in a stable condition after a two car accident in the Blue Mountains early this afternoon.

CareFlight’s rapid response rescue helicopter was called to Wentworth Falls at 12.19pm, landing in a field near the accident scene.

The medical crew joined a team from NSW Ambulance who were treating the woman cautiously due to the risk of spinal injuries caused by the collision.

CareFlight’s specialist doctor and intensive care paramedic assessed the 62-year-old for chest and back injuries and led a joint effort to carefully transfer her to the helicopter.

She was then flown to Westmead Hospital for further treatment and assessment.
