A woman in her 50s has been flown to hospital with back injuries after a serious fall from a horse in the northern Blue Mountains late this afternoon.

CareFlight’s rapid response team were called to Garland Valley at around 4.30pm. The helicopter landed in fields north of Putty Road, close to where the 51-year-old woman was lying after her fall.

Local NSW Rural Fire Service volunteers and NSW Ambulance paramedics were also on scene.

CareFlight’s specialist emergency doctor treated the woman before she was carefully transferred to the helicopter. She was flown, in a stable condition, to Westmead Hospital  where she remained for further assessment.
