Earlier today a woman, aged in her 50s, was involved in a multi vehicle collision on the Great Western Highway, Bullaburra.
The woman was initially trapped in her vehicle and sustained serious head and suspected spinal injuries.
The Mounties Care CareFlight Helicopter was tasked by NSW Ambulance shortly after 10.30am and landed 30 minutes later in a reserve beside the Great Western Highway. CareFlight’s medical team then travelled on foot to the scene, where NSW Ambulance paramedics were providing initial treatment and were assisted by Fire and Rescue NSW and NSW Police to extricate the woman.
CareFlight’s specialist doctor and NSW Ambulance critical care paramedic performed a clinical assessment on the woman, including an ultrasound, and provided further treatment to stabilise her for flight transfer to hospital.
The woman was airlifted to Westmead Hospital in a stable condition under ongoing treatment from CareFlight’s medical team.
