A woman aged in her 40s has been taken to hospital in a serious but stable condition after a collision with a truck in Western Sydney this morning.

CareFlight’s rapid response rescue helicopter was called to Cranebrook around 815am, landing before 8.30am on the road near the accident.

The passenger of the vehicle suffered head injuries when a semi-trailer truck impacted with the rear of the car she was travelling in.

CareFlight’s specialist doctor and intensive care paramedic treated the woman at the scene, sedating her, putting her into an induced coma and placing her on a ventilator to stabilise her injuries.

NSW Ambulance, Police and Fire and Rescue emergency services were also on scene.

The crews transferred the patient to the helicopter and she was flown to Westmead Hospital in a serious but stable condition.
