A woman in her 60s is in a stable condition after the car she was in struck a rock wall on a winding bushland road north of Sydney this afternoon.
The woman suffered chest injuries in the single vehicle accident in Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park.
CareFlight’s rapid response rescue helicopter was called shortly after 3pm, landing at the intersection of McCarrs Creek Road and General San Martin Drive.
Police rushed CareFlight’s specialist doctor and intensive care paramedic the short distance down General San Martin Drive to where the woman was being treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics.
The medical crew assessed the woman, who had suffered a collapsed lung. They then kept her under observation as she was taken by road ambulance to Royal North Shore Hospital in a stable condition.
