A woman in her 40s was trapped in a car for about half an hour after a collision with a truck in Sydney’s west this morning.

The impact of the collision forced the car into a front yard at the corner of Berkeley Road and Hamilton Street, South Wentworthville, at about 9.30am.

CareFlight’s rapid response helicopter was called to the scene, landing around the corner in Pitt Park where police were waiting to take the medical crew to the scene.

The truck driver and another person in the car were freed quickly and treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance.

CareFlight’s specialist doctor and intensive care paramedic provided initial treatment to the trapped woman while NSW Ambulance paramedics and NSW Fire and Rescue worked to cut her free from the wreckage.

She was then taken by road in a stable condition to Westmead Hospital with serious injuries to her pelvis and torso, with the CareFlight medical team providing continuing care on the way.
