A cyclist has been transported to Royal North Shore Hospital in a critical condition this afternoon after he collided with a vehicle near Mount Colah earlier this morning.

CareFlight’s rapid response helicopter, with critical care paramedic and doctor, was tasked just before 11.30am, to attend a collision between a male cyclist, believed to be in his 50s, and a car on Kur-ing-gai Chase Road.

Thanks to some helpful members of the public who stopped to offer assistance once the crew landed in nearby Bobbin Head, the medical team were transported the short distance to the crash site.

According to first responders on the scene, the cyclist collided with an oncoming vehicle, landing on the bonnet of the car, sustaining critical head injuries and suspected upper limb fractures and injuries on impact.

Police, Fire and Rescue and Ambulance crews were also tasked to the scene.

CareFlight medical team intubated the man before transferring him to an ambulance for the journey to Royal North Shore Hospital by road. He is in a critical but stable condition.
