Hundreds of our most precious transported

In 2015, CareFlight transported more sick children and babies than ever before, flying 314 patients from across NSW and ACT in need of specialist treatment to Sydney, Newcastle and Canberra.

CareFlight, in conjunction with Newborn and paediatric Emergency Transport Service (NETS), operates a dedicated emergency helicopter service for children in NSW and the ACT. The 24 hour intensive care service flies paediatric patients from local clinics and hospitals to specialist treatment centres in Sydney, Newcastle and Canberra.
CareFlight provides the helicopters and pilots for this service, while NETS provides the doctors and nurses.

In 2014, together we flew over 260 desperately ill children to the care they needed; in 2013 another 310 patients.

By mid-2016, the NETS service had flown well over 1000 mission, transporting more than 1000 patients.

Based at Westmead Children’s Hospital, the dedicated NETS helicopter crews transport patients from across dozens of small and large regional hospitals every year. The most visited areas to date include Bathurst, Canberra, Coffs Harbour, Dubbo, Gosford, Newcastle, Nowra, Orange, Tamworth and Wollongong.
