A 48-year-old man has been airlifted to hospital after suffering possible spinal injuries when his jet ski hit swell on the Hawkesbury River, Gunderman this afternoon.

The man reported severe pain to his lower back.

CareFlight’s Rapid Response Helicopter was tasked just before 2:50pm and landed in the nearby Rosevale Caravan Park at 3:06pm. CareFlight’s aeromedical crew were the first emergency services personnel at the scene of the incident and evaluated the man’s condition.

CareFlight’s specialist doctor and NSW Ambulance critical care paramedic treated the man for a possible spinal fracture.

The CareFlight and NSW Ambulance critical care team provided ongoing treatment as the man was airlifted to Royal North Shore Hospital in a stable condition.
