A 26-year-old man working on a building site in Neutral Bay was crushed by approximately 200 kilograms of dirt when a rubbish chute collapsed.

The tradesman suffered pelvic and suspected spinal injuries.

CareFlight’s Rapid Response Helicopter was tasked by NSW Ambulance at 9:30am and landed 15 minutes later in Forsyth Park where the clinical team made their way to the scene of the incident. NSW Ambulance paramedics were providing initial treatment for the man at the worksite.

Working in tandem with emergency services personnel from Fire and Rescue NSW, CareFlight’s specialist doctor and NSW Ambulance critical care paramedic assisted in the man’s extrication from the building site. They performed a clinical assessment on the man, including an ultrasound, while taking spinal precautions.

The man was taken by road in a stable condition with NSW Ambulance to Royal North Shore Hospital under ongoing observation from CareFlight’s clinical team.
