A 30-year-old man has been struck by a vehicle on Pittwater Road, North Ryde, earlier today.

The pedestrian sustained suspected spinal injuries and had injuries to his leg.

A member from the Rural Fire Service was the first responder on scene and tied a tourniquet to stabilise the man’s leg and called for further assistance from NSW Ambulance.

CareFlight’s Rapid Response Helicopter was tasked by NSW Ambulance at 10:35am and landed 10 minutes later in a clearing where NSW Police escorted CareFlight’s clinical team to the scene of the incident.

CareFlight’s specialist doctor and NSW Ambulance critical care paramedic performed a clinical assessment on the patient while taking spinal precautions. They provided further treatment for his leg and administered pain relief.

The man was taken by road with NSW Ambulance under ongoing treatment from CareFlight’s clinical team to Royal North Shore Hospital in a stable condition.
