A 13-year-old boy has been airlifted to The Children’s Hospital at Westmead in a critical condition after he fell and hit his head at a Collaroy rockpool.

The boy was knocked unconscious from his fall and he sustained head injuries.

CareFlight’s Rapid Response Helicopter was tasked at 4:29pm and landed at the Collaroy Surf Life Saving Club. NSW Police escorted CareFlight’s aeromedical team to the scene of the incident where paramedics were providing initial treatment.

CareFlight’s clinical team intubated the boy and placed him in an induced coma to stabilise him. He was then airlifted in a critical condition to the The Children’s Hospital at Westmead under the ongoing care of CareFlight’s aeromedical crew.
