The CareFlight rapid response trauma team were called to Glenorie, north-west of Sydney, at 1.19pm and arrived at 1.33pm. The helicopter landed at a paddock about 500 metres from the child’s family home and the CareFlight medical crew ran to the scene.

NSW Ambulance paramedics were first on the scene and had begun treating the child’s injury before being joined by CareFlight’s doctor, who initiated pre-hospital treatment.

The child is in a stable condition and was transferred together with his mother by road ambulance to The Children’s Hospital at Westmead.
