A tree lopper suffered critical head injuries when he plunged 15 metres to the ground at Terry Hills, in Sydney’s north, today.
Ambulance paramedics called a CareFlight trauma doctor to help treat the man before flying him to hospital.
CareFlight landed in an adjacent property minutes later, shortly before 11am.
The CareFlight doctor said the 26-year-old man was cutting branches when the tree fell over, sending the man plunging to the ground.
The doctor said it if the tree had landed on the man he would have been killed.
The paramedics and doctor treated the man for head and arm injuries.
The doctor placed the man in an induced coma as a pre-hospital start to intensive care management, on a ventilator to control his breathing.
CareFlight flew the man to Royal North Shore Hospital where he was admitted in a critical condition.
