A 56-year-old woman has been airlifted to Westmead Hospital after being knocked unconscious by a horse at a Grose Wold residence.

It is understood that the woman was unloading the horse from a float when it kicked the door and knocked her unconscious.

CareFlight’s Rapid Response Helicopter was tasked at 5:30pm and landed in a neighbouring property. NSW Police escorted the CareFlight and NSW Ambulance critical care team to the scene of the incident where NSW ambulance paramedics were providing initial treatment to the patient.

CareFlight’s specialist doctor and NSW Ambulance critical care paramedic intubated the woman to stablise her.

She was airlifted by CareFlight to Westmead Hospital in a critical condition.
