CareFlight has airlifted a woman in her 20s to Royal Darwin Hospital following a serious cattle yard incident on a remote station in the Big Rivers region.
The woman sustained chest and back injuries after being struck against a fence by a cow while working in the yard.
CareFlight was tasked to respond with the fixed wing medical team, including a flight doctor and flight nurse providing treatment on the ground before flying the patient to Royal Darwin Hospital in a stable condition.
Flight Nurse Nadine, who was part of the response, acknowledged the crucial support provided by station workers on the ground.
“Thank you to the patient’s colleagues who not only assisted in transporting our crew and equipment to the scene but also helped us safely package the patient for transfer back to the aircraft,” she said.
“When injuries happen in isolated locations, fast access to medical care can make all the difference”, said Jodie Mills -Mitchell, CareFlight’s General Manager – Northern Operations.
