CareFlight visits remote Top End communities
25/01/2017 – News, ReconciliationCareFlight medical crews respond 24 hours a day, seven days a week, to fly out and look after the people in the Top End’s remote communities.
Our doctors, nurses, pilots and aircrews are focused on achieving our mission of saving lives, speeding recovery and serving the community by providing the highest standard of rapid response critical care.
But the nature of our work – immediately treating patients, flying them to hospital as quickly as possible – means we don’t get much of a chance to spend time in the communities, talking to clinic staff and other service providers.
For this reason, CareFlight is taking the time to visit communities to chat about our service delivery and sharing more information about CareFlight and its purpose.
In November and December last year, CareFlight’s general manager and staff visited eight communities: Wadeye, Palumpa, Peppimenarti, Daly River, Woolianna, Wurrumiyanga, Pirlangimpi and Milikapiti.
Last week, Careflight visited Katherine, Minyerri, Ngukurr and Bulman.
CareFlight staff would like to send out a big thank you to the many service providers who made time for us and for their hospitality. A special thanks also to the clinic staff for transporting us to and from the airstrips, for taking time out from their busy schedules to meet with us.
CareFlight operates the Top End Medical Retrieval Service which provides medical rescue and retrieval services to Territorians across the Top End, on behalf of the NT Government.
