CareFlight was delighted to join the opening NAIDOC Week event in the Top End on Monday 4 July.

The event opened with an official flag raising ceremony next to Parliament House, along with a traditional First Nations dance.

A range of First Nations speakers from law, health, business and government reinforced the NAIDOC Week message of active participation and local community and organisation’s achievements to drive participation in the economy, legal process and policy making.  Of special note is the recent appointment of the Territory’s first Aboriginal Local Court judge, Mr David Woodroffe.

Very fitting for this year’s theme of Get Up! Stand Up! Show Up! which reminds us to make a genuine commitment to support and secure institutional, structural, collaborative, and cooperative reforms.

It’s also time to celebrate the many who have driven and led change over generations—they have been the heroes and champions of change, of equal rights and even basic human rights.
