A man has sustained serious head injuries after he fell four metres onto his head from an awning in front of a Blacktown store.
The man, aged in his 40s, fell onto concrete and lost consciousness from the impact.
CareFlight’s Rapid Response Helicopter was tasked by NSW Ambulance at about 11:30am and landed within 10 minutes at Francis Park. NSW Police escorted CareFlight’s clinical team to the scene of the incident where NSW Ambulance paramedics were providing initial treatment.
CareFlight’s specialist doctor and NSW Ambulance critical care paramedic performed a clinical assessment on the patient, including an ultrasound. They intubated the patient and placed him in an induced coma to stabilise his condition.
NSW Ambulance transported the man by road to Westmead Hospital in a serious condition under ongoing treatment from CareFlight’s clinical team.
