A 54-year-old man is in a serious condition when his bicycle and a ute collided on Mona Vale Road, St Ives.
He sustained head and suspected spinal injuries.
CareFlight’s Rapid Response Helicopter was tasked by NSW Ambulance at 12:40pm and landed 10 minutes later in Hassall Park by the scene of the incident where NSW Ambulance paramedics were providing initial treatment.
CareFlight’s specialist doctor and NSW Ambulance critical care paramedic performed a clinical assessment on the man and conducted an ultrasound to assess his injuries. They administered pain relief and undertook spinal precautions.
The man was taken by road ambulance with NSW Ambulance to Royal North Shore Hospital in a serious condition with ongoing treatment from CareFlight’s clinical team.
