A one-year-old boy has been airlifted from Dee Why to The Children’s Hospital at Westmead following a near-drowning.
The child was in a bathtub of a Dee Why residence when the incident occurred.
CareFlight’s Rapid Response Helicopter was tasked at 5:20pm and landed 15 minutes later at Dee Why Surf Life Saving Club. NSW Police escorted the aeromedical crew to the scene of the incident where NSW Ambulance paramedics were providing initial treatment.
CareFlight’s specialist doctor and NSW Ambulance critical care paramedic assessed the patient and stabilised him for transport to hospital.
The boy was airlifted to The Children’s Hospital at Westmead in a stable condition under ongoing observation from CareFlight’s aeromedical crew.
