A 67-year-old woman was treated while she remained trapped in a crashed car for more than 30 minutes before she was freed and taken to hospital in a stable condition this morning.
The driver of the vehicle and another two passengers, both children, were able to free themselves from the wreckage after the car had come to a stop on the road following the collision with a power pole.
CareFlight’s Rapid Response Helicopter was tasked shortly before 10am, landing on a private property beside the crash scene on Wisemans Ferry Road.
NSW Ambulance crews provided initial care for the trapped woman. Ambulance crews also cared for the three other occupants of the vehicle before transporting them to Gosford Hospital by road with minor injuries.
CareFlight’s specialist doctor and critical care paramedic treated the woman for multiple injuries, including for fractures to the upper and lower limbs.
NSW Fire & Rescue crews assisted CareFlight’s medical team to safely extricate the woman from the vehicle. NSW Rural Fire Service crews and Police were also on scene assisting.
The woman was taken to Royal North Shore Hospital by road ambulance under ongoing treatment by CareFlight’s medical team.
