A 29-year-old woman has been taken to hospital in a serious condition after crashing from a wakeboard and then being hit by another boat on the Hawkesbury River.
The woman suffered back and hip injuries following the incident at Pitt Town. She was helped from the water to a riverside beach by a team of onlookers who continued treatment until Police and Ambulance crews arrived.
CareFlight’s rapid response rescue helicopter was called to the incident just before 6pm landing just 10 minutes later in the caravan park where the woman was brought to shore.
CareFlight’s specialist doctor and critical care paramedic worked with Ambulance crews to stabilise the lady before being assisted by the large group of onlookers to carry the lady up a steep embankment to the waiting helicopter.
She was flown to Westmead Hospital in a stable condition.
