A 21-month-old boy is recovering in hospital after being pulled unconscious from a pond at a holiday resort north west of Sydney this morning.
CareFlight’s rapid response rescue helicopter was sent to the Del Rio Resort at Wiseman’s Ferry on the Hawkesbury River after reports of another holiday period drowning.
The boy’s mother had waded into a pond near the family’s campsite and pulled the toddler from the water. He was initially blue, unconscious and not breathing but was able to be revived before emergency services reached the scene.
After initial assessment by CareFlight’s medical team, the boy and his mother were airlifted to The Children’s Hospital at Westmead for further treatment.
