A 58-year-old man was flown to hospital late today after coming off a dirt bike on a semi-rural property in Sydney’s north west this afternoon.
CareFlight’s rapid response trauma team were called to the South Maroota home where a Mother’s Day family gathering had been under way, landing about 300 metres away on a local reserve.
CareFlight’s specialist doctor and paramedic were first on the scene, joined moments later by NSW ambulance paramedics and NSW police.
The injured man was treated at the scene for serious but not life threatening head and chest injuries. They would have been worse but for the helmet and protective clothing he was wearing.
He was then taken by ambulance to the waiting helicopter to be flown to Westmead Hospital in a stable condition.
