A man aged in his 70’s has been flown to hospital in a serious but stable condition after he was rescued when he was swimming and hit a sandbar earlier today.
The Mounties Care CareFlight Helicopter was tasked by NSW Ambulance at about 12pm and landed at the scene.
Surf Life Savers on scene provided initial treatment to the man. NSW Ambulance paramedics worked alongside CareFlight’smedical team to treat the patient, who regained consciousness after the incident.
CareFlight’s specialist doctor and NSW Ambulance critical care paramedic provided additional treatment, including taking spinal precautions.
The man was flown to Royal North Shore Hospital.
