Multiple emergency services have worked together to treat and transport a 60-year-old man and 51-year-old-woman woman after they were involved in a serious motorbike accident in Bucketty late this afternoon.
The husband-and-wife duo were riding at 80kms/h when a tree fell on their path causing a serious collision and throwing them off the bike.
CareFlight’s Rapid Response Helicopter was tasked by NSW Ambulance and landed near the scene shortly after on a private property.
CareFlight’s specialist doctor and NSW Ambulance critical care paramedic intubated the male driver at the scene to stabilise him, before he was flown to Westmead Hospital in a serious condition.
CareFlight’s medical team also treated the female passenger who had sustained serious leg injuries, before she was flown to Westmead Hospital by Toll Ambulance Rescue Helicopter Service.
NSW Police and NSW Ambulance also assisted at the scene.
The incident came after an already busy day, with the CareFlight Rapid Response Helicopter crew attending two other serious incidents earlier in the day.
