A 22-year-old arborist has been airlifted to hospital by CareFlight this afternoon after cutting his arm with a chainsaw.

The man, who was up a tree when the incident happened, suffered from extensive bleeding and made his way down from the tree.

CareFlight’s Rapid Response Helicopter was tasked by NSW Ambulance at 12:25pm and landed 20 minutes later in Bulls Camp Reserve, Woodford.

NSW Ambulance paramedics who had provided initial treatment for the man, including the application of a tourniquet, transported him to the park to meet CareFlight’s clinical team.

CareFlight’s specialist doctor and NSW Ambulance critical care paramedic performed a clinical assessment on the man and provided further treatment for his wound.

The man was airlifted to Royal North Shore Hospital in a stable condition under ongoing observation from CareFlight’s clinical team.
