A man has sustained head, leg and suspected spinal injuries when the cherry picker he was operating fell into bushes on an Ermington property.
The worker, aged in his 40s, fell approximately six metres and was trapped in the cherry picker cage for 20 minutes.
The Mounties Care CareFlight Helicopter was tasked by NSW Ambulance shortly after 3:00pm and landed 15 minutes later in a park where NSW Police escorted CareFlight’s medical team to the scene of the incident.
CareFlight’s specialist doctor and NSW Ambulance critical care paramedic worked in tandem with emergency services from NSW Ambulance and Fire and Rescue NSW to extricate and stabilise the patient. The medical team performed a clinical assessment on the worker, including an ultrasound, and undertook spinal precautions.
CareFlight’s medical team provided ongoing treatment for the man as he was transported in a stable condition by road with NSW Ambulance to Westmead Hospital.
