A 63-year-old man who went into cardiac arrest at his Parramatta residence this morning has been taken to hospital in a critical condition.
The man had gone into cardiac arrest due to serious blood loss suffered in a medical episode.
CareFlight’s Rapid Response Helicopter was tasked at 8:30am and landed shortly after in Robin Thomas Reserve, Parramatta, where NSW Police escorted the clinical team to the scene of the incident.
NSW Ambulance paramedics provided initial treatment for the man whilst CareFlight’s specialist doctor and NSW Ambulance critical care paramedic assisted with the patient’s resuscitation.
Due to the man’s severe blood loss, CareFlight’s specialist doctor performed a blood transfusion at the scene of the incident, intubated the patient and placed him in an induced coma to stabilise him.
The patient was taken by road ambulance to Westmead Hospital in a critical condition under ongoing observation from CareFlight’s clinical team.
