A woman aged in her 30s was airlifted to hospital after falling from a horse in Girraween, outside of Darwin.
The CareFlight NT Rescue Helicopter powered by Viva Energy and operated as part of the Top End Medical Retrieval Service on behalf of the Northern Territory Government, was tasked by Emergency Services just before 5.00pm Sunday afternoon.
Due to difficult road access a CareFlight Flight Doctor, Flight Nurse and stretcher were winched down to treat the patient.
CareFlight’s specialist doctor treated the patient for suspected spinal, chest and limb injuries.
St. John Ambulance also attended the scene and worked alongside CareFlight’s medical team to treat the patient. The patient was then airlifted to Royal Darwin Hospital in a serious but stable condition.
