An 11-year-old boy was flown to hospital to undergo scans for a possible spinal injury sustained in a tackle during a junior football game in the Blue Mountains.
The CareFlight rapid response trauma team were called to sports grounds in Rickard Road, Warramoo, after the boy lost feeling in the tackle.
Local police and ambulance crews cleared the field to enable the helicopter to land.
After initial assessment by the CareFlight medical team, the boy was placed in the helicopter for the flight to Westmead Children’s Hospital.
