An eight-year-old boy has been involved in an incident at Kurrajong school where his head struck a brick wall and sustained suspected fractures to his skull.
As a result of the impact, the boy suffered a reduced level of consciousness.
CareFlight’s Rapid Response Helicopter was tasked by NSW Ambulance at 3:40pm and landed 15 minutes later in North Richmond Oval. NSW Ambulance paramedics had provided initial treatment for the boy and transported him to the park.
CareFlight’s specialist doctor and NSW Ambulance critical care paramedic performed a clinical assessment on the boy and intubated the patient and placed him in an induced coma to stabilise him.
The clinical team continued providing care as the boy was airlifted to The Children’s Hospital at Westmead in a critical condition.
