A 56-year-old man has been airlifted to hospital after he fell three metres off a wall in Avoca Beach shortly before 2pm this afternoon.
The man was gardening at his home when he fell from a retaining wall, injuring his back, chest and head.
NSW Police cleared a cricket game on a nearby oval so CareFlight’s rapid response helicopter could land and access the patient.
NSW Ambulance provided initial treatment for the man, before transporting him to meet CareFlight’s medical team on the oval.
CareFlight’s specialist doctor and critical care paramedic provided further assistance, including performing ultrasounds on scene to assess the man’s injuries.
The team stabilised the patient and airlifted him to Royal North Shore Hospital.
