A young man has been airlifted by the CareFlight Rescue Helicopter to Royal Darwin Hospital after the vehicle he was driving rolled in the early hours of this morning, seven kilometres past the Corroboree Park Tavern on the Arnhem Highway.
CareFlight, operating the Top End Medical Retrieval Service on behalf of the Northern Territory Government, were tasked at 4.10am, with the Top End Rescue Helicopter complete with doctor and nurse on board departing Darwin just minutes later.
The man, believed to have sustained head and facial abrasions and injuries when he was thrown from his vehicle, was initially assessed by St John Ambulance, who were first to arrive at the scene, and transported to hospital by CareFlight.
The man, aged in his 20s, was transported to hospital in a serious but stable condition.
