A man, aged in his 40s, has sustained head, chest and leg injuries after coming off his bike on Mooney Mooney Bridge, Mooney Mooney, earlier this morning.
The Mounties Care CareFlight Helicopter was tasked shortly before 9:00am and landed 15 minutes later on Mooney Mooney Bridge by the scene of the incident where NSW Ambulance paramedics were treating the patient.
CareFlight’s specialist doctor and NSW Ambulance’s critical care paramedic conducted a full trauma assessment on the man, which included an ultrasound to check for internal injuries, and performed a roadside blood and plasma transfusion. The medical team intubated the patient and placed him in an induced coma to stabilise his condition.
CareFlight’s medical team provided ongoing treatment for the man as he was airlifted in a critical condition to Royal North Shore Hospital.
