CareFlight’s Top End Rescue Helicopter crew conducted a Search and Rescue mission near the Vernon Islands this morning, after recreational fishermen activated an emergency beacon at around 10am.
The fishermen had set off the distress signal after their vessel experienced engine failure about 25 nautical miles north-east of Darwin.
The CareFlight Top End Rescue Helicopter located the 5.5m fishing boat at sea and a recovery vessel was sent to the aid of the fishermen.
