CareFlight has had a busy day treating and transporting two male patients injured in separate road incidents earlier today.
CareFlight’s first tasking this morning was at 10.20am to attend the scene of a multiple car crash in Rooty Hill where they treated a driver from one of the vehicles involved in the three car collision.
The 67-year-old man was initially trapped in his car after he and his wife were involved in the crash. CareFlight’s specialist doctor and critical care paramedic met other emergency crews at the scene including NSW Fire and Rescue, NSW Police, NSW Ambulance.
Once the team assessed the man they treated him for compound fractures and significant chest and abdomen injuries.
The man was taken by road ambulance to Westmead Hospital under the clinical supervision of CareFlight’s clinical team, in a critical condition.
Almost immediately after returning to the base at Westmead, CareFlight was tasked again to a second road incident. CareFlight’s Rapid Response Helicopter was tasked shortly before 11.45am today to a attend to a motorcyclist who sustained leg injuries when he came off his motorcycle.
First to arrive at the scene, CareFlight’s specialist doctor and critical care paramedic assessed the man and treated him for lower limb injuries including suspected fractures of his limbs.
It’s believed the motorcyclist was riding with friends when he came off his bike on the Putty Road.
The man was taken under the supervision of CareFlight’s clinical team by helicopter to Westmead Hospital.
NSW Police and NSW Ambulance were also at the scene of the incident.
