A man, aged in his 70s, is in a critical condition after he fell three metres through his roof and landed in the bathroom of his Wentworth Falls residence yesterday afternoon.
The man sustained multiple injuries, including to his chest and back.
The Mounties Care CareFlight Helicopter was tasked shortly before 3:30pm and landed 20 minutes later in Lomatia Park where NSW Police escorted CareFlight’s medical team to the scene of the incident. NSW Ambulance paramedics were providing initial treatment for the patient and Fire and Rescue NSW personnel were extricating the man.
CareFlight’s specialist doctor and NSW Ambulance critical care paramedic conducted a clinical assessment on the patient, including an ultrasound, and transported him by NSW Ambulance to the Mounties Care CareFlight Helicopter. On route, the medical team conducted a blood transfusion. The man was then intubated and placed into an induced coma to stabilise his condition.
CareFlight’s medical team provided ongoing treatment for the man as he was airlifted in a critical condition to Royal North Shore Hospital.
