A 55-year-old man remains in a critical condition after falling down a flight of stairs at a school in western Sydney this morning.
The man was found collapsed at the base of flight of concrete stairs, having suffered head injuries before going into cardiac arrest.
CareFlight’s rapid response rescue helicopter was tasked to Plumpton High School shortly after 8.00am, landing in the school’s playing courts to drop off the critical care team.
A NSW Ambulance team had commenced CPR as CareFlight’s medical crew arrived on the scene.
CareFlight’s specialist doctor and intensive care paramedic intubated the man and provided vital fluids to resuscitate him.
The medical team made the decision to continue intensive care aboard a road ambulance.
A police escort assisted the team to get through heavy traffic to Westmead Hospital, where the man was admitted for ongoing care.
