A man, aged in his 50s, conducting home improvements in a Thornleigh home with a circular saw has sustained serious injuries to his chest.
The Mounties Care CareFlight Helicopter was tasked by NSW Ambulance shortly before 10:45am and landed in the grounds of Headen Park where the medical team made their way to the scene of the incident.
NSW Ambulance paramedics were providing initial treatment for the patient. CareFlight’s specialist doctor and NSW Ambulance critical care paramedic performed a blood transfusion and NSW Police delivered additional blood products from Hornsby Ku-ring-gai Hospital to the incident scene.
CareFlight’s medical team intubated the patient and placed him in an induced coma to stabilise his condition.
CareFlight’s medical team provided ongoing treatment for the man as he was transported in a critical condition by road with NSW Ambulance to Royal North Shore Hospital.
